1C

Substitute “creator’s autograph” for “signature”?

Suggested rewrite for 2nd sentence: “For devised titles, a statement of responsibility may be included as part of the title proper.”

3rd sentence: “… record statements pertaining to responsibility for the production of the physical object (e.g., copyists, secretaries, or scribes) in the Notes area a note."

Comment on last example: “Comment: Printed” here refers to the style of writing (i.e., printed, as opposed to cursive)

1C1.1

“… in the form and order in which they appear.”

1C1.2

“If the name(s) of the person(s) or persons in the statement of responsibility are is abbreviated, unclear, or known to be a pseudonym, make an explanatory note.”

1C1.3/1C1.4

“Record this fact” doesn’t seem DCRM to me. Usually, you would say what to do with the statement of responsibility, then instruct to make a note. 1C1.4 could be rewritten: “Make a note that the statement …”

1C2

1st example: In the note text, substitute commas (?) for the double dashes

1C3

Add at end: “Make a note indicating the transposition” (cf. DCRM(B) 1E3) and add notes to examples.

1C4.1

F&p: 1st example: Delete space in “W.H.”; add space to “Jan. 1936”

1C5

“… transcribe all the names mentioned in the form and order in which they appear. [insert paragraph]

Optionally, if the responsible persons …”

Last example: put square brackets around “et al.”

1C5. Paragraph ends with the instruction “Indicate the omission by the mark of omission and supply “et al.” in square brackets.” but the third example does not include the square brackets.

1C7

F&p: Should “pucelle” be lowercase? Proper noun?

1C8

3rd par.: Insert comma after “phrases”

1st example : Delete space in “L.N.”; lower case “professor” and “phrenology”

2nd example: Insert space between mark of omission and semi-colon

4th example: Is date in the right place? Shouldn’t it precede statement of responsibility? Spell out “circa” (cf. 1D5)?

5th example: Need mark of omission after author’s name; in comment, delete hyphen in “title page”

1C10.2 -- Although parallel titles are mentioned here, there is no information in the current draft for how to record parallel titles (as in AACR2 4.1D or DCRM(B) 1C).

1C12

1st example: Lowercase “husband”; uppercase “Latten”? Spell out “circa” (cf. 1D5)?

1C -- The following sentence is very confusing: “Do not supply a statement of responsibility for a manuscript lacking this element; instead, record creator information in the Note area and, optionally and for devised titles only, in the title area.”

1C14.3. Need an example here?

1C14.3 -- Incorrect reference to 1F at the end of last sentence.
